What is Parkinson's Creative Collective?

We are a group of people with Parkinson's, who met at Psych Central's NeuroTalk PD Forum and decided we would like to make a difference in the perception of Parkinson's Disease by presenting it from the perspective of the patient. We hope you will join us in making this a uniquely global patient-based endeavor to transform the way our condition is seen. We invite you to become empowered patients, and to help promote collaboration on creative projects which will contribute to those goals.

NeuroWriters is a voluntary group of international patient writers within the Parkinson's Creative Collective who are currently working on a collaborative book project, The Peripatetic Pursuit of Parkinson's Disease.

The book draws on knowledge gained through years of on-line patient advocacy and debate, and presents a wide range of patient experience of the condition, sharing with the reader the personal experience of their journey through the "land of PD" in search for answers. It presents a picture of what it's really like to experience PD through people who live with it everyday. If you are a PwP, you will probably recognize yourself on some of its pages.

As "Patient Experts", like many of you, we have become impatient with the pace of advancement toward treatment and cure. The projects we are working on, including this site, are about encouraging everyone affected by Parkinson's to pick up the flag of advocacy and work together. One of the key issues we are working on is obtaining a seat at the table for people with Parkinson's alongside those people who make decisions concerning the research and treatment of our condition. Through participation comes a voice and with that voice comes the power to retake control of our lives. Together we are better.
